At Some Time, in Some Place, there was a Boy named Arnold Finch (I don't know why, you'll have to ask his parents).
Arnold was a Normal Boy. He went to school, he listened to Mom and Dad, and he played games with other Normal Boys. He was very bright, and Everyone used to say he had A Lot of Potential. Mom and Dad were proud of their Normal Boy. They wanted him to Grow Up and become a Successful Adult.
Arnold Finch did not wish to Grow Up.
As all the other Normal Boys began to Grow Up into Successful Adults, Arnold remained a Boy. Mom and Dad were concerned. Other Normal Boys were dating Normal Girls and getting on with there Lives, but not Arnold Finch. Mom and Dad told him he simply had to Grow Up, and that he simply couldn't remain a Normal Boy any longer and still be Normal.
So Arnold Finch began to Change.
It was very subtle at first. No one knew the difference, not even Mom and Dad. They didn't know their Pride and Joy was becoming the worst of all things- a Different Kind of Boy.
The other Normal Boys were the first to know. They laughed at Arnold Finch (as any Normal Boy should) and called him Silly Names. Mom and Dad found out he was a Different Kind of Boy when a Distinguished Civilian pointed out that Arnold did not do the things that Normal Boys do. Mom and Dad were concerned. They told him he simply had to be Normal, and Grow Up to be a Successful Adult. This Nonsense of being a Different Kind of Boy had to end.
So Arnold Finch began to Disappear.
First his laugh Disappeared, then his smile. The sound of his voice Disappeared as well. This Different Kind of Boy began spending all of his Precious Time alone, not doing healthy Normal Boy kinds of things, but Thinking and Feeling (two very disgraceful activities for Distinguished Civilians). Eventually No One could remember what Arnold Finch looked like, or what Arnold Finch sounded like. They began to forget who Arnold Finch was. Mom and Dad scarcely noticed him anymore, and One Day they had another Normal Boy. They forgot Arnold Finch completely. So as this Different Kind of Boy was sitting alone, Thinking and Feeling, he winked out of Existence. He'd been completely forgotten by Everyone and Everything.
Arnold Finch Disappeared.
